We love the ocean,sometimes it is wild, sometimes baby safe tranquilo. Some of us go swimming every day, usually with fins and goggles, which make it an easy, safe and excellent workout if you want to swim long stretches behind the waves. Ask us for boogie boards and fins, of which we try to provide most common sizes. We recommend you bring your own goggles; you will be a lot more relaxed in the water if your eyes aren’t salty. With fins and goggles you will want to stay in the ocean for hours, especially if you have learned the Long Glide, a swimming technique similar to monofin swimming that will make you fast and agile as a dolphin! Markus, your host can teach you.

Hiking the Beach trail to the Madrigal river, and enter Parque Nacional Corcovado. Walk along the spectacular coastline and can devour your box lunch right on the refreshing river mouth, about 4hours.

Hike to or thru world famous Corcovado National Park 1 -3 day trips, alone or guided, maybe staying overnight with our Guaimy- friends on the shores of Rincon river, at the end of this deep jungle experience!

Take the canoe down to the lagoon for some great photographic opportunities and fishing

Surf at Carate or a bit down the road in Matapalo

Bird watch until your heart's content

Hike the Carate River and waterfalls

Explore the remote pristine beaches

Watch the dolphins and whales jumping and hear them singing while you float in the ocean, belly up!

Participate in sunrise beach yoga and tai -chi lessons with Shane

Go horseback riding: Miles of untouched sandy beach combined with beautiful ocean sunsets are an experience you will always remember. Or, ride along jungle trails or just down the road and be visited by scarlet macaws, monkeys, coatis. Travel on your own or with a guide, we’ll arrange it for you. Spend as much time as you like or until your saddle gets sore.

Puerto JIMENEZ
The main town of the peninsula, Puerto Jimenez offers the infrastructure, (bank, post office, telecommunications, supermarket internet, hospital, pharmacy airport, port and bus depot) necessary to engage in vacation pastimes.

From Puerto Jimenez you can take a Dolphin Watch Cruise with Delfin Blanco in Golfo Dulce or charter boats for deep sea fishing

Half way between Carate and Puerto Jimenez is Matapalo Point. Martina’s 'Buena Esperanza' bar offers quality food, drinks and sometimes a really fun party, mostly on fridays, when the comunity meets for the organic farmers market in the bar.

Here on Finca Exotica we welcome every occasion to have a little party ourselves. It really doesn’t take a lot, once we are sitting around the bonfire and if there is someone around who plays our marimba or his flute. Sure enough DJ i-pod is never missing and ready to unleash the instant- party- playlist!

Besides the scheduled workshops we can usually provide you tools, materials, space and guidance for pottery, construction, painting sculpting, gardening etc. for your project. Whether you want to carve a Tiki or make a model of your dream house, ask us for whatever we have so you can get creative when you feel inspired. Even for a small group we will always be ready to spontaneously organize a workshop.
