Learn to surf on the Osa Peninsula, Costa Rica´s most biologically diverse area

With warm waters all year round and some of the best waves in the world, surfing is extremely popular in Costa Rica among locals and travelers alike. On top of being fun, surfing is a great form of exercise using your entire body, and a fun way to stay cool in the ocean on hot days!

Enjoy a Surf Trip to Pan Dulce

With several great waves in the area, the Osa Peninsula is a great place to surf. The closest surf spot to Finca Exotica happens to be Pan Dulce in Matapalo, which is known far and wide for being one of the best waves in the world to learn to surf on. Pan Dulce has a perfect right point break which is great for beginners. With soft, slow waves that can reach up to 500 yards, there is plenty of room for everyone and no hazards to worry about.

Ask about our trips to Pan Dulce before you arrive or upon check in, and we will be happy to arrange lessons or board rentals for you at Pollo Surf School. This school is run by Oldemar Fernandez a.k.a. “Pollo,” who is known as the best surf instructor in the Osa Peninsula. Whether 8 or 78, everyone will be able to stand up here on their first day!

Tour Rate: $55 USD + 13% IVA per person. Includes: Equipment and Professional Local Surf Coach. Schedule: Depending on tides.

Please consider: Minimum ages are 8 years old for surf lessons and 14 for stand up paddle tours. (no max age) . You need to drive to Cabo Matapalo (30 minutes) or take the morning collectivo at 830am, right after breakfast.

We recommend: Bring a swimsuit, plenty of sunblock, and a rash guard if you have one.
